Mr. Beck began his training under the instruction of Teresa Wells. Later he studied at Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle. He holds a degree in Ballet from the North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied under the instruction of Melissa Hayden, Warren Conover, Susan McCullough and Duncan Noble. He has choreographed works seen nationwide in New York City, Seattle, Chicago Washington DC, North Carolina. Mr. Beck has been a featured guest artist with San Diego Ballet, Harbor Ballet, Spindle City Ballet, Island Moving Company and Ballet Rox. Mr. Beck has had works created on him by many contemporary choreographers including Steve Rooks, Lina Puodziukaite and Lynn Taylor Corrbett. He is a sought after partner and has partnered members of ABT, Boston Ballet and New York City Ballet. His Favorite roles include: Jose Limons “Unsung”, and Balanchine works including “Stars and Stripes”, “Allegro Brilliante”, and “Scottish Symphony.” In New York he is a founding Director of FARMdance. Recently He Co Founded The Garage in San Diego.
Alyssa Hustedt began her ballet training at age eleven at Janice Lee’s School of Ballet in Encinitas, CA. By the age of thirteen, she was accepted into major ballet company’s summer intensives, and enjoyed training at Joffrey Workshop, Bolshoi Ballet Academy at Vail, and American Ballet Theatre. In 2001, Alyssa moved to Jackson, MS to enter the Ballet Magnificat trainee program. She was promoted to Apprentice and then to full-time company member. During her nine years of dancing with Ballet Magnificat, Alyssa received the unique experience of traveling and performing across the US and internationally. While there she held main roles in the company’s productions A Christmas Dream and The Scarlet Cord, and instructed ballet workshops and intensives to students across the country. In 2010, Alyssa moved back to North County and joined the SEDMA staff as a ballet teacher for the year. Alyssa and her husband relocated to Orange County in summer of 2011 and Alyssa spent two years instructing at Maple Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Charles Maple and Kathy Crade. Alyssa is also a certified Cardio Barre instructor. Alyssa is thrilled to be back with the SEDMA family and is looking forward to a great year!
Nancy Robinson studied ballet in Los Angeles with Robert Rossellat, a student of Preobrajenska and Espinosa in Paris. At the age of fifteen, she received a Ford Foundation Scholarship to San Francisco Ballet School and was accepted into San Francisco Ballet Company the following year. Ms. Robinson danced as a soloist there for seven years, then as Principal dancer with the City Center Joffrey Ballet Company, which made her an internationally acclaimed ballerina. She has toured Vienna, London, and several major United States cities. During her career, she danced in principal roles such as Astarte Pas de Desses (Joffrey), Moves and Interplay (Robbins), Time Cycle (Bolender), Nutcracker-Sugar Plum Fairy (Christensen), and several works by Arpino, Fokine, and Ailey. Later, she was Ballet Mistress at Pacific Northwest Ballet Company and The Los Angeles Ballet. Ms. Robinson has taught at The Joffrey School (NYC), Cornish School (Seattle), Marcia Dale Weary School (Pennsylvania), Los Angeles Ballet School (Los Angeles), City Ballet (San Francisco), The Ballet Studio (San Francisco), and the California Ballet School (San Diego). Nancy brings her accomplished talent and expertise to the Academy.
Samath Orm is a native to San Diego, California. He started his dance career with Future Shock San Diego at the age of sixteen, where he flourished and excelled, ultimately becoming a part of Culture Shock San Diego at the age of eighteen. Samath is known for his unique style, which is a fusion of house dancing, hip hop, freestyle and jazz inspired movement. He possesses individualistic qualities that leave him on a spectrum of his own. His versatility as a dancer has given him the opportunity to teach master classes all over the West Coast, IDEA fitness convention, London, and Switzerland. He also choreographed for many corporate events and benefit shows, including Sea World’s Shamu Rocks Tour and Summer Nights. Furthermore, Samath was a contributing choreographer for the CSSD team that won the prestigious McCallum Theatre Choreography contest. Currently, he is a proud member of World Famous and Unity, two dance companies located in San Diego California. Throughout his never-ending journey, he finds that he must never stop learning, live your life with love, passion, truth, and soul.
Jenny began formal study in gymnastics and dance as a primary school pupil in South Korea. A lifelong student of dance, she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Dance from Daegu Catholic University, Daegu, South Korea. She began with the California Ballet Company in 2001 as a Corps de Ballet, earning “Dancer of the Year” honors for the 2005-2006 season. During her tenure with the California Ballet, she performed in a wide array of roles ranging from Corps to solo to character roles, emphasizing a variety of skills from technical classic ballet to theatrical aspects. In 2010, she relocated to Japan under her spouse’s military orders, where she quickly established a relationship with Architanz studio, a renowned international ballet studio in Tokyo. There, she was exposed to a wide variety of artistic influences and choreographic techniques through instructors and choreographers from organizations such as Dresden Semperoper Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Les Ballet de Monte Carlo, Leipzig Ballet, and others. While in Japan, Jenny also choreographed and staged two new contemporary ballet works at community theaters in Tokyo, working with professional dancers from Architanz. In 2012, Jenny relocated back to the West Coast and is happy to be back to her home in California and thrilled to be part of the Academy.
Tiffany Singler was born and raised in a suburb of Seattle, Washington. Trained at the prestigious Pacific Northwest Ballet School, she had the opportunity to perform in many of their productions including Cinderella, the Nutcracker, and Snow White. Mrs. Singler also trained at Oregon Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet School, Boston Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, and Ballet Austin. At age eighteen, Tiffany was asked to join the corps de ballet at California Ballet in San Diego. There she performed a variety of roles in both classical and contemporary ballets, including Red Riding Hood in Sleeping Beauty, as well as Betzie Roe’s Dry Roses. Most recently, Tiffany held the position of Assistant Director for San Francisco Youth Ballet Academy, aiding in the creation and instillation of a new syllabus, and setting and rehearsing ballets. While at SFYBA, she also performed as a Guest Artist with San Francisco Youth Ballet Theatre, performing soloist roles including Mazurka in Les Sylphides and Dewdrop in the Nutcracker. Tiffany is a fantastic addition to the Academy faculty, where she is excited to share her extensive training with her students as well as to instill her love and passion for dance.
Jack Beddows is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies with a Bachelor’s degree in music composition. Jack concurrently studied classical guitar for several years and is self-taught in a variety of other styles. In addition to teaching for over ten years, including several years as a high school band director, he has extensive recording studio experience. Coupled with his enthusiasm of teaching students of all ages, Jack enjoys playing piano, singing, composing, song writing, and performing.
